November Reflections

November brought several fun events, including some that GLA got to help out with for the first time! Check out highlights from this month below:

November 15th: Chick-Fil-A

The Regency Park Elementary School PTA enlisted out help for their fundraiser at Chick-fil-A. For a few hours, GLA members held signs outside, opened the door up for customers, and helped clean off tables when people were done eating. We enjoyed getting to help out!

November 16th: World Pancreatic Cancer Day

Pancreatic cancer is one of the few cancers for which survival has not improved over the past 40 years. 75% of patients die in the first year and the 5 year survival rate is only 6%. GLA teamed up with the Sideline Cancer Project to raise awareness about this deadly disease through informing students at lunch and selling bracelets. Although we did not sell many bracelets, we were able to inform many students. In the future, GLA looks to sponsor an awesome event to raise more money!

November 30th: Light Up Night

Even though it was a little chilly, GLA had fun helping kids attending with various Christmas-themed crafts. They could make a candy cane out of fruit loops, scratch-off art, and a Christmas tree out of pom poms.
